A few nasty thoughts

I would like to know how much a person like Kelly B from a housewives show has to pay a ragmag to say she looks good in a bikini.

I would like to know how the Gosselin kids could help having anger issues. After all they are just taking after their mom.

I would like to know what thought process could make Kanye "Bigmouth, small mind" West think Taylor Swift should have his back. And why does he think people are attacking him. Maybe they are. But folks, stupidity is not a disease.

Why does it seem OK to spend millions on a wedding when there are so many starving kids in this world?

Does anyone besides the ragmags still connect Jennifer Anniston with Brad Pitt?

Justin Beiber is 16? Really? Coulda fooled me.

Leah Michelle. Isn't there anyone else on Glee?

Does Mickey Rourke look like a caricature of his old self or is it just me?

Heidi and Spencer. Publicity Stunt Divorce. Didn't work did it?

A Kardasian in the hand is---trying to get her picture taken.

I wonder how many ragmags there would be if they could only print the absolute proveable truth.

The fashion industry has finally done it. I used to love fashion magazines. The pretty models and the beautiful clothes were like eye candy. However, I can no longer say that. The clunky, overdone shoes; the sheer, unwearable, blouses; the gathered fabric dresses that look as though they were put together with safety pins. These are awful to me. The prices just suck. And the clothes are worn by "models" of anorexia and bulimia. The legs that we see so much of are downright bony. The bust. Well there is none. And the faces are badly made up if at all. The hair is often a frizzy fright that would get my stylist fired. Oh, and all in a size 0. Yeah I used to like fashion mags.

I used to like reading about the stars. That was until the advent of "reality" TV.
Now they are choosing some of the most disgusting people and treating them as if they were TV royalty. Thanks so much Jerry Springer!

More of the other

Musings.

Isn't it amazing that Eddie Murphy only seems to make money in movies when he is making an a-- of himself?

How in the world does Julianne Moore do it? Sometimes she seems to have a perfect taste in fashion but this week she's worst dressed on the Fashion Police.

I saw a pic of Ke$ha in a bikini. Paris Hilton and she could vie for having the least behind.

I also find it amazing that people want to buy clothing from a company called Rag and Bone. I suppose you must be boney to wear their rags.

Nick got engaged. Then Jessica got engaged. Anyone surprised?

Saw a man in shorts, a T shirt and deck shoes at a shopping center today. It's in the 50's and rainy. Go figure. A woman was likewise dressed in a sweater, jeans, a jacket, and flip flops. I am lost.

Being a regular person, I want to know how Christina Aguilera gets her hair that white without it falling out. And Gwen Stefani.

I am still wondering what the point of open toe boots is.

More later.

The other side.

When will there be realism in the celebrity world? When will some one stand up and say the things that some of us are thinking?

Tom Cruise acted like an idiot about Katie, especially on Oprah.

Mel Gibson has acted like an idiot so many times he must qualify for an insanity defense.

Charlie Sheen needs help. But he is really funny.

I have decided not to continue liking Tom Cruise and Mel Gibson.

Both Tom and Mel are acting weird partly because of their beliefs in religion.

Lindsay Lohan has had some really bad role models. Neither of her parents seem to have a good handle on their own lives. How can they help with hers?

Kate Gosselin has had 2 of her children expelled from school for anger issues. Kate, herself, has had anger issues bad enough to end a marriage. And I am trying to ignore any news about her rather than support her.

The nineteen and counting family does not seem to care much about how much air and food will be around for their great grandchildren. And they are getting good press.

I want to know what happens to all of the clothing worn on carpets since they can only be worn once, sort of like a wedding dress.

It seems obvious to me that Dancing with the (Stars?) should be the Dancing is optional Popularity Show. I am not going to watch it any more.

Some of us don't like Conan OBrien

Why are Sophia Loren and Raquel Welch referred to as "still" beautiful?

In what universe are the Kardasians important enough for the front page of anything? Why?

Has "reality" television gone too far? I am having a hard time finding an intelligent person on any of the shows. One show has brides throwing fits fit for a small child's tantrum and then the men still marry them. Huh?

Why is it important to ask the name of the designer of an ugly dress?

It's true that I am in an irritable mood right now. But I plan to try stating some more facts that have come to me in future posts.

New

I have been lucky enough to afford a good computer, a good TV, and magazines so that when I speak about fashion, I have seen some good and some not so good on those venues. I have been following a blog called Advanced Style. It is written for the mature crowd and I am one of them. I just have a few things to say about some of the fashionists I have seen and where they fit or don't fit in the scheme of things.

I think Jessica Alba has a wonderful body and a pretty face. She can wear almost any style of clothes and shoes and look terrific in them. However, she has gotten some things together that in my opinion ruin the look. For instance, big, bulky, black sandals. I do not think they go with a feminine 40's style dress. And I have noticed her following the huge shoe thing with all sorts of clothes. I cannot think why anyone would want to wear them. I learned in reading about fashion that to make your legs look longer you don't wear ankle straps. Double ditto for shin straps. Of course the longer hem doesn't help much either. Anyway, I say that if the big bulky sandals are your thing, shorten the skirt and don't go for the 40's vibe.

I think SJP has been lauded to the heavens for being a fashionista. She has worn some truly wonderful outfits. And some ludricous ones. And she pulls them all off with panache. I lump her in with Jessica Alba because they both seem to favor scarves. Now I am on the warm side so a neck scarf is an offense to me in the summer. Especially when the outdoor temps are near 90. I see that SJP does not agree. Not only does she sport long sleeves in the summer but the scarf is tied in a huge lump that looks somewhat like a tumor on her neck. On the other hand, she is so thin it could be that the body can no longer warm itself.

The last thing I will rail against at this time is the one shoulder or uneven decolletage on many of the dressy entries at the awards shows. This pic shows a dress that makes me think of breast removal of the Amazon women. Having a fully filled out bodice on one side and a really small one on the other is a bit off-putting. Now I will add the 4-boob dresses in which the bodice is too tight, the dipped front dress that shows how much gravity exerts itself, and the dresses that show the movement of the bodice when the woman walks. It the bodice is heavily boned it does happen. It looks a lot like a 3 part person.

I will add a short statement about buying a 10,000 dollar dress that will only be worn once for a few hours when there is hunger all over the world. It stinks.

If I Could

I would love to wear this look if I could. I love the boots, that they aren't clunky and that they make the model's legs look good. And the fabric and ethnic look of the clothes is very rich. The colors are terrific. Of course the price tag is probably enough for funding a small country. But if I could...........

Really?

Mariah Carey actually wanted to buy this.

Shorts?

Two of the outfits in the fall and winter collection runway show of a famous designer. The models look as if they are wearing underpants. The legs of the models look like shapeless twigs. I am not impressed.

Red

Scare you? Does me.

And do you think she eats? I don't.

Fashion, RIP

Young people are into a sort of fashion that I don't understand. Yes I think dresses are terrific. They can take you anywhere. But what about mismatched prints and cut outs and mini skirts with weird clunky shoes and several different colors that don't relate at all? Makes me dizzy.

Mourning

I am now mourning the passing of the tasteful little black dress. The dress which is supposed to take us anywhere has itself disappeared. In its place are see thru black dresses, cut out black dresses, and black dresses that are actually tops being worn as dresses. Whatever happened to taste? Of course, the dresses shown are actually being worn by children. Real women could not possibly think this is fashion.

The last time

The last time I laughed this hard it was at Spenser Pratt trying to be an army guy.

Tell me why---Please

Would someone please tell me why a female would wear pants and shoes that make her look fat? No mirrors around?
Would someone please tell me why an older woman would wear a dress out that makes her look like she is trying to be 6 again? No mirrors around?
Would someone please tell me why a very young actress dresses more like my grandma than my grandma does? No mirrors around?

Obviously being known is not having taste.

Elegance, a lost art

White dress

Sorry but my idea of a beautiful dress does not include it being attached with a staple gun. But the gold one is pretty, despite the hangers on.

OMG Why?

Why would anyone think this look is attractive? I wouldn't even wear it indoors.

Katy

Girl's got a great bod. Given. Does anyone else think it's a good thing these dresses are brief? Sweat!!!!!

Handbag

As a not young person I am in the midst of a slight dilemma. I am not an old person in mind or at heart. I am not a person who wants to appear old. There are some of the cutest clothes and accessories out there that I have seen in a long time.

I must admit that I was not a fan of the jeans that were cut so low that the b--- crack was showing. And the tops that came to just above the navel. After all, there were way too many really fat people wearing them. I find it ironic that these things became popular at a time when obesity is at an all time high among young people. I also found it difficult to find things to wear during this time because I was working and also because I just didn't fit the mold at all. I happen to be a bit too fat to wear anything that comes near the belly button. So I have happily said goodbye to the wonders of skin.

But what has happened to the stores. The gap between young and older is still really big. Now there are skinny jeans and sleeveless tops to contend with. What a wonderful change. And the overweight continue to wear these things and to scare the bejeesus out of me.

I think my conundrum is obvious in the pictures of the two bags I have chosen. The Dooney is quite youthful. It is obviously for the young. But the alternative is available for sale. Can everyone say Grandma? I just want some in between things. Some.

Giggle

It has been a long time since I laughed this hard.

Butt

There are people who are proud of having a large butt. Go figure.

Oh, Christina

Fashion mistake!!!!!!!!!

Really important

If you don't make a sex tape no one will ever find it and sell it.

The memo

I seem to have missed the memo that says a different color see thru fabric is a good thing. I think it's tacky. Jessica Beil and her beautiful white dress with the awful black lace insert, even SJP in a black dress with one beige boob. Whatever happened to flow?

Cute hair

I believe this is the first time I have seen Gwen that I liked her hair. I really don't like the weird things she does with it but this is cute.

But-------what's with those pants?

Some things

Some things scare me!

I think she's going blind

I think Jessica could do so much better in her fashion choices. The girl would look better if she avoided anything that sticks out from the body. I also think she would look wonderful with a Jenny McCarthy hairdo. That long stuff isn't her best look. And tooth cleanings would help.

Smiling, Why?

Naomi seems to either be wearing things to shock or throwing things. It makes me wonder who would choose her as a companion and why he would smile in the presence of that ridiculous outfit.

Aging fashion?

I am getting older. Probably similar in age to Liza. But because I am still looking for a style doesn't mean I have to wear garbage bags, does it?

Wednesday, the middle of the week

Middle of the week. Middle of the road. I have read and loved fashion magazines for years. I began with wanting to look like the models. Of course that was when the models were pretty and looked like girls or women. Now, to my regret, most of the models on the fashion runways look like skeletons with a small bit of skin and some hair. I don't believe I have ever seen more ugly girls in one place than on the runways. And there are those who seem to think these skinny girls are going to make their clothes look good.

I have heard that you should wear your clothes and your clothes shouldn't wear you. If you are really skinny the clothes probable have more presence than you.

Sorry to the skinny girls. I am trying to point out that there is a huge difference between fashion and style. And there is a huge difference between clothing and costume. And I am middle of the road. I love flats because they are comfortable. I hate the ridiculous heels the designers have made because they are not comfortable and they look like they belong in a circus. To me flats are clothing, sometimes even comfortable clothing. The ridiculous heels are costume. I have seen pics of shoes and clothing that make the wearer look wonderful. And I have seen pics of clothing that do not enhance anything about the wearer. I have $20 to spend on clothing. Which should I choose?

I don't understand

I don't understand the fascination with the New Jersey kids. They would be thought of as not very with it around here. And the way they dress and act seems to say they are looking for a hook up. Has TV gotten so needy for a rating that showing c--p is the only thing left?

Even when the upper half

Even when the upper half doesn't look so bad the lower half is totally ugly.

Wearable-----NOT
