Kiera and Vanessa

Comments on the fashion.
Kiera, the dress is such a bland color she looks like a tan blob. And why have open shoulders and a closed neckline and ruffles? I think this one is a hot mess.

Vanessa, the outfit looks like nightie and robe. Nuff said.

I usually love Anna Sui

I usually love Anna Sui. First about this collection I notice that a lot of gray and black start it out. And the first outfit, a suit with shorts, looks like a costume to me and not like something really wearable.

The second outfit with shorts brings up another thing I don't understand. I think of mixed seasons when I see this sort of thing. Boots with the toes cut out. Sandals that bare the feet but cover the ankle. Sweaters with short shorts. Short shorts with boots. I am finding really mixed messages in this not to mention the fact that I, personally, think it's ugly.

Number three on my list of Anna's errors is the mixed color and pattern. I do think some may be pleasing to the eye. This one isn't.

Orange sundress over green sweater. I'm sorry, but I think it makes both pieces look ugly.

Really cute green sundresses are hard to find. This is a really cute green sundress, with terribly ugly knee socks.

This shorts outfit with man socks makes that gorgeous model look fat and frumpy. I can do that a lot cheaper.

I usually love Anna Sui. But not Spring 2011.

Saint Laurent

Always when I look at the collections by the best known design houses I expect to see several themes. This one is no exception. However I am surprised that 2 of the three photos show garments that might only look good, if that, on the models wearing them. The garments have a large amount of extra fabric which if worn by an average size woman would add many pounds to her appearance. I am glad I am not restricted to totally overpriced and underpretty clothes. I have noticed in the fashion world, on the red carpets, and especially on brides that the latest trends include clumped together fabrics, odd drapings, lopsided garments, and layers of fabric. None of these things appeal to me. I prefer to be able to see a woman's body in her clothes. Otherwise it appears that the clothes are using her as a coathanger. Not an attractive look in my opinion.

The other thing I mention about the designs is that there seems to be an extra strip of fabric at the bottoms of the shorts shown. Ha. A pair of scissors and that can be worn by anyone.

The Spring fashions are interesting to see. Not to buy.

Antonio Berardi

News from the Catwalk.-----I've been trying to wade through the Spring Fashions available and I certainly have mined some gold. If you take a body without a hint of a curve and put it into a garment with curves this is what you can have. This is a collection which could only be worn by a pencil.

Oh to be slim

I don't care how slim you are, there are some things that just don't make the cut. Like tent dresses, dresses with bad trims and poorly matched outfits. They are not going to look good no matter what.

This dress, this dress

Ok I am airing views again. This dress, to me, is just beautiful. I know that there are women out there with tons of money who can look beyond the ugly hairdo, corrective shoes, and the hateful stare of the model. I have been noticing that there are so many things that have changed about models and I am lost.

I don't understand why a designer would want to put his work on an ugly model.

I don't understand why teasing hair out to there is a good look.

I don't understand why gapped teeth are suddenly all the rage. In my day- braces.

I don't understand why models no longer have real bodies. Just bones with a light covering.

I don't understand why on the runway models frown and walk stiffly like automatons. The people who buy the clothes don't do that.

I don't understand why models, celebs, and just everyday folks are doing the pigeon toed pose. Again, in my day, corrective shoes.

I don't understand the latest fads in shoes at all.

I don't understand how a regular person is supposed to wear the see thru clothing without getting charged with indecent exposure.

I don't understand one shoulder dresses and patterned tights and skinny jeans or jeggings.

Boy do I feel old.

I've heard

I have heard it said that you can't be too rich or too thin. Whoever said that was wrong.

Let's hear it

Let's hear it for bad hair days. I think Scarlet wanted hers that way which goes to show how our mirrors can fool us.

When I was working, a bad hair day just ruined everything. I almost couldn't function. When I think about paparazzi waiting for me or a stage to walk across, a bad hair day becomes WW3. AGHHHHHHHHHH!

OMG Red

I am totally amazed that one person can wear red and do it totally right, and another can screw it up entirely. Sad, really.

Baby baby baby

Ali and Christina seem to do well with fashion when expecting. And of course, when they are not with child. I would love for the damsels in Hwood to take lessons.

More of the other

Musings.

Isn't it amazing that Eddie Murphy only seems to make money in movies when he is making an a-- of himself?

How in the world does Julianne Moore do it? Sometimes she seems to have a perfect taste in fashion but this week she's worst dressed on the Fashion Police.

I saw a pic of Ke$ha in a bikini. Paris Hilton and she could vie for having the least behind.

I also find it amazing that people want to buy clothing from a company called Rag and Bone. I suppose you must be boney to wear their rags.

Nick got engaged. Then Jessica got engaged. Anyone surprised?

Saw a man in shorts, a T shirt and deck shoes at a shopping center today. It's in the 50's and rainy. Go figure. A woman was likewise dressed in a sweater, jeans, a jacket, and flip flops. I am lost.

Being a regular person, I want to know how Christina Aguilera gets her hair that white without it falling out. And Gwen Stefani.

I am still wondering what the point of open toe boots is.

More later.

Shorts?

Two of the outfits in the fall and winter collection runway show of a famous designer. The models look as if they are wearing underpants. The legs of the models look like shapeless twigs. I am not impressed.

Mourning

I am now mourning the passing of the tasteful little black dress. The dress which is supposed to take us anywhere has itself disappeared. In its place are see thru black dresses, cut out black dresses, and black dresses that are actually tops being worn as dresses. Whatever happened to taste? Of course, the dresses shown are actually being worn by children. Real women could not possibly think this is fashion.

The last time

The last time I laughed this hard it was at Spenser Pratt trying to be an army guy.

Handbag

As a not young person I am in the midst of a slight dilemma. I am not an old person in mind or at heart. I am not a person who wants to appear old. There are some of the cutest clothes and accessories out there that I have seen in a long time.

I must admit that I was not a fan of the jeans that were cut so low that the b--- crack was showing. And the tops that came to just above the navel. After all, there were way too many really fat people wearing them. I find it ironic that these things became popular at a time when obesity is at an all time high among young people. I also found it difficult to find things to wear during this time because I was working and also because I just didn't fit the mold at all. I happen to be a bit too fat to wear anything that comes near the belly button. So I have happily said goodbye to the wonders of skin.

But what has happened to the stores. The gap between young and older is still really big. Now there are skinny jeans and sleeveless tops to contend with. What a wonderful change. And the overweight continue to wear these things and to scare the bejeesus out of me.

I think my conundrum is obvious in the pictures of the two bags I have chosen. The Dooney is quite youthful. It is obviously for the young. But the alternative is available for sale. Can everyone say Grandma? I just want some in between things. Some.

Some things

Some things scare me!

I think she's going blind

I think Jessica could do so much better in her fashion choices. The girl would look better if she avoided anything that sticks out from the body. I also think she would look wonderful with a Jenny McCarthy hairdo. That long stuff isn't her best look. And tooth cleanings would help.

Smiling, Why?

Naomi seems to either be wearing things to shock or throwing things. It makes me wonder who would choose her as a companion and why he would smile in the presence of that ridiculous outfit.
